Twilight: The forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.

おはよう!

It's seldom that i'm blogging in the morning. I can hardly believe it myself. But recently i've been having insomnia. I can go to bed at 2am and still be awake, rolling in bed at 5am. LOLS. Maybe its because i sit at home doing nothing but drawing and watching dramas, so i'm not tired enough to go to bed. Makes sense? LOLS.

Okay so, today was a movie marathon for me. I really ran out of good dramas to watch, so i thought i shall catch up with movies, havent been to the cinemas lately except for City of Ember because there was no HQ version available online. So in order of preference of the 7 movies i watched today:

Wild Child
This has got to be the best chick flick this year. Actually, i don't rmbr watching much chick flick this year. But this show was awesome. Emma Roberts is so gorgeous, i honestly like her outfits, it suited her rich girl image. The movie plot also wasn't shallow, like most chick flicks are. It had a rather touching story behind it. Lastly, the male lead is hot. Freaking hot. Apparently, he is a model for Burberry.

Twilight
This is where the super long post sets in. I have alot alot of comments for this movie. Skip along if you don't want spoilers. Yes, after restraining myself for a month, i decided to just watch it online first anyway. I still have my free tickets which i will be using to watch this show on 18 DEC. hahas. Okay, i have read alot alot alot alot of critiques on this movie. So i wanted to judge it for myself. I would say I was one of the first few Twilight fans in SG, at least the first 20%? Then suddenly, a few months later, BOOM!, twilight fan explosion across the globe. I have waited for this movie for about one year? Massive advertising on this movie has built up everyone's expectations i guess. So negative and harsh criticism was unavoidable.

The movie was acceptable in my opinion. There was no way Catherine Hardwicke and the screenwriter could have put the whole novel into the movie. BUT, the movie was seriously lacking essential parts. It felt like a breeze (not a relaxing one) watching the movie, everything went by so fast, as if i had put the novel on fast forward. Edward and Bella's love story became so shallow. Like it just suddenly happened, which was NOT the case. Their affection for one another is supposed to be much much deeper and mystical than what you see on screen. This, in my opinion, was what made the movie far from people's expectations. The lines by the screen writer were definitely not good enough to meet with Stephenie Meyer's novel. The movie made me realise how well SM depicted and wrote Edward and Bella's romance. Well, twilight IS my favourite novel. The rest of the series isn't, although enjoyable.

Acting. The acting was what made the movie acceptable. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson did an awesome job no doubt. Kristen could have delivered her lines better though. Some of her lines were too unemotional, facial expression were lacking too. Robert P did a perfect job though, i'm not saying this because he's hot. My favourite scene in the movie is when he delivered this line so perfectly:

So the lion fell in love with the lamb.
What a stupid lamb.
And what a sick, masochistic lion.

Cullen family was perfect too. Alice was simply adorable. Carlisle was too hot for his age just like SM wrote him to be. Emmette was really big and cute. Esme was so sweet. Rosalie was bitchy enough, but not pretty enough. Bella had described her as the most beautiful person ever, shes gorgeous no doubt but not exactly perfect for the role. Jacob was okay, he appeared too little for me to judge, but i expected him to be cuter appearance wise. He wears his hair in a way that makes me dislike him. Whereas in the novel, i was infatuated by his sweetness towards Bella. I was not a second infatuated by him in the movie, again, the screenwriter is partially at fault. She toned his role down.

Okay i'm not done. i want to rant about New Moon, the confirmed sequel to Twilight. Right, so twilight fans have ensured success of the serial. The movie cost US$38 million to make, but it grossed US$35 million alone on is opening day. That is crazy! The global twilight fan base is just amazing. Over powering i would say. So, Summit Entertainment has confirmed New Moon's release in Nov, 2009. BUT, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will not be directing New Moon due to Summit not giving her more time allowance. I would say Catherine Hardwicke is putting in her heart and soul to make the series a success. Pretty admirable, but too bad Summit wants cash before quality.

Another thing is Summit doesn't want the same actor for Jacob since Jacob covers majority of this novel. Apparently, the current Jacob is too baby faced. LOLS. Poor kid, but i think so too. He just doesnt fit into my image of Jacob Black. Lastly, the annoying screenwriter is cutting Jacob's scene in New Moon and trying to increase Edward's scene to please twilight fans. OMG. How can she do that? Jacob is so so so essential to New Moon. Less jacob and the freaking plot is going to be so shallow again. As most protestors have already stated, more Edward would make the reunion scene in New Moon less impactful. Honestly, from the way SM wrote New Moon, Jacob should be considered a lead role too.

Okay i'm done ranting. Two scenes i had really wished to see in Twilight was the one where Bella stuck her finger and fainted, then Edward was with her in the sick bay. And second, the scene where Bella said "Stupid, shiny, Volvo owner!" This quote is honestly every twilight fan's favourite quote. How and Why did the screenwriter leave it out?

Anyway, i don't mind watching the film again. People in US have watched it 10 times already? For some reason, despite my disappointment, i still want to watch it in cinemas. =D

I have said enough, the sun is about to rise and i should get to sleep. Will talk about the other 5 movies tmr. I feel so good ranting about Twilight, i'm so sorry if you just happen to have enough about twilight. This twilight dominating the world thing must really annoy alot of people. But ultimately in my opinion, as a Vampire/Werewolves lover who has read and watched so many of such series, Stephenie Meyer's version is one of the best, probably behind Underworld.

Good night, or i should say, good morning! =D
